AHHH!! Summer!
We have been done with school for the year almost a week and the kids are enjoying their "free week". I've already informed them that starting next week we'll be back to morning chores, piano practice and math drills before heading outside for the day.
Our kids need time at home. They treasure the unscheduled time to do what they wish. For Thomas, it's making paper airplanes, playing the piano/keyboard and electric guitar and reading. He continues to be an avid reader. Sometimes spending 1+ hours in the morning and several shorter stints during the day, posed with book in hand. He especially does a lot of reading on raining or grey days. Marie enjoys coloring and doing playdough as well as helping me in the kitchen or with baby Irene.
In preparation for the neighborhood garage sales, they have done an excellent job going through their belongings and deciding which things they can part with. They have been involved in pricing items, making signs, and deciding their sales (Rice Krispie treats, lemonade and dehydrated chives).
